To help compensate for a lifetime of being saddled with a birthday so close to Christmas, The Drumheller Mail is holding its annual New Year’s Baby Contest.
Parents, or those who may be nearing that title, who had been intimate roughly nine months ago may find they can bring home more than a new bundle of joy.
This year the prizes include over $1,100 in gift certificates, which include local restaurants and retail outlets, and other prizes. Fifty-nine businesses in and around Drumheller have contributed to the contest.
To be eligible for the contest the first boy or girl of the year must be the first born in the Drumheller Regional Health Complex after midnight of January 1, 2013. The attending physician must also specify the exact time.
If your new baby meets that criteria, submit a written statement to The Drumheller Mail no later than January 3. If there has been no winner at that time, the contest will continue until a winner is declared.
